Getting Started
Spotlight FX is a plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects that gives you instant access to transitions, text animations, overlays, and workflow tools. Instead of creating effects from scratch or searching online for assets, you double-click an item and it appears in your timeline ready to customize.
Open the Spotlight FX plugin inside Premiere Pro or After Effects, browse the library, and double-click any item you want. It downloads directly to your timeline with full customization options. Everything is cloud-based, so you always have the latest items and updates.
Yes. You can download Spotlight FX and start using 40+ free transitions and effects right away. They come with a commercial license, so you're free to use them in client work and monetized content without paying anything.

Compatibility
Yes. Spotlight FX works on both Mac and Windows and is compatible with the latest two versions of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Spotlight FX works with the two latest versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects on both Mac and Windows. We regularly update compatibility with new Adobe releases.
You need internet to download new items and sync your account. Once downloaded, you can use items offline, but we recommend staying connected for the full experience.
Start a project on your desktop, continue on your laptop. Everything syncs automatically - your downloads, favorites, and even your customization preferences. Your creative workspace follows you wherever you work.
Premiere Pro
Just open the Spotlight FX plugin and start browsing items. When you find something you like, double-click it and it appears in your timeline ready to use. Each item has a custom effects panel so you can customize everything without opening After Effects.
You get transitions, text animations, overlays, elements, and workflow tools. Everything is built as MOGRTs so they work natively in Premiere Pro with full customization controls right in your timeline.
No, everything works directly in Premiere Pro. The items are pre-built so you get all the motion graphics power without needing to know After Effects or having it installed.
Yes, every item has its own effects panel with sliders and controls. Change colors, timing, text, scale, and other settings right in Premiere Pro without opening the original sequence.
No, the plugin is lightweight and all items are optimized for best performance.
Yes, items adapt to your sequence settings automatically. Whether you're working in 1080p, 4K, 24fps, or 60fps, everything scales and works properly.
After Effects
Spotlight FX is a plugin for After Effects. You can browse items, double-click to download them, and they will appear in your timeline, ready to use. Each item includes a custom effects panel for easy customization without the need to dig through layers.
You get transitions, text animations, overlays, elements, and workflow scripts. The workflow scripts are really handy - they automate boring tasks like adjusting anchor points for multiple layers, renaming stuff, creating loops, and copying keyframe easing between animations.
Not at all. Everything works with simple sliders and controls. The workflow scripts run with one click, and all items have easy-to-use panels instead of complex expression controls.
Yes, every item has its own effects panel where you can change colors, timing, scale, and other settings. You can also double-click into the composition and modify anything inside just like a normal After Effects project.
These scripts save you tons of time on repetitive tasks. The Anchor Point Mover lets you adjust anchor points for multiple layers at once. Renamer helps you bulk rename layers. Looper creates perfect loops with one click. Keyframe Copy transfers easing between animations. No more doing this stuff manually.
Items download as compositions that show up in your project panel. They're built as MOGRTs so you get the flexibility of regular compositions but with some nice extras. You can apply changes globally across multiple copies of the same item, or reset everything back to default with one click if something goes wrong.
Absolutely. Double-click any composition to enter and make changes as needed. You can add effects, modify layers, and adjust timing, just like in the regular After Effects workflow.
No, the plugin is lightweight and all items are optimized for best performance. You won't notice any impact on After Effects startup time or rendering speed.
Yes, the scripts work on any After Effects project, not just Spotlight FX items. You can use them to speed up your regular workflow even when you're not using our visual assets.
Working with Assets
It depends on where you're working and which panel you're using:
In After Effects:
If you're using the Properties Panel (recommended), just click on the text in the timeline, and the font options will appear in the panel.
If you're using the Essential Graphics Panel, you first need to find the MOGRT composition in "Primary" and then edit the font.
In Premiere Pro (2025 and newer):
Just click on the text item in the timeline, and use the Properties Panel to change the font directly. No need to dig into Essential Graphics anymore.
Important:
You cannot change the font through the Spotlight FX Effects Panel, since Adobe doesn’t allow font access through scripting. To make font changes permanent across duplicates, use the Push button after editing.
In After Effects, go to Spotlight FX Settings (click on your Avatar > Settings) and enable "Force Import from Beginning". With this setting on, every item you import will be placed at the start of the timeline (0:00), no matter where your playhead is.
This is useful when you're:
- Prototyping or building rough layouts
- Stacking multiple effects on top of each other
- Creating reusable animation blocks
This setting applies only in After Effects and is especially helpful when experimenting or working in batch.
If “Collect Assets on Import” is enabled in Spotlight FX Settings, all items are saved next to your project.
If it’s not enabled, After Effects will link the items from the Spotlight FX system folder. To manually collect everything later, use the native After Effects "File > Dependencies > Collect Files" function.
We recommend turning on "Collect Assets on Import" from the beginning to avoid surprises.
In After Effects:
1. Select the Spotlight FX item in the timeline.
2. Open the Spotlight FX Effects Panel, click Import.
3. Choose footage from your Project Window, hit Confirm Selection in the Spotlight FX Effects Panel.
In Premiere Pro:
1. Select your footage in the timeline.
2. Double-click on the Spotlight FX item. Your footage will be added automatically inside the item’s slot.
Yes, and you can choose your preferred method:
1. Use native keyframes on layer properties in the timeline
2. Or keyframe directly in the Spotlight FX Effects Panel (works only in After Effects)
They’re fully synced, so keyframes created in either place will reflect across both.
No. In After Effects, you can:
1. Customize your Spotlight FX item using the Spotlight FX Effects Panel
2. Click Push to save those changes as the new default
3. Duplicate that layer across scenes
Each duplicate will use your custom look by default.
Transitions & Effects
Some Spotlight FX items (text items especially) come with blue markers on the layer. These mean the in and out animations are fixed and won’t stretch when you make the layer longer.
But you can still extend the layer to hold the animation on screen longer.
For example:
The animation might take 1 second to come in and 1 second to go out. If you stretch the layer to 30 seconds, the animation still happens at the start and end, and the middle just stays visible.
This lets you control how long the item stays on screen, without messing up the entrance or exit.
You can also use Alt/Option + ] to quickly trim the end of the layer and skip the exit animation if you want.
Spotlight FX uses Intelligent Import:
- If one or more clips are selected, the transition is placed at the In Point of the first selected clip (After Effects or Premiere Pro).
- If no clip is selected, it’s placed at the current playhead position.
Use native After Effects tools:
1. Select the transition layer.
2. Right-click → Time > Time Stretch.
3. Set a lower percentage (e.g., 50%) for faster transitions or higher (e.g., 150%) for slower ones.
Yes! You can combine them with other effects and create unique results without any complicated setups.
Absolutely! Every transition comes with simple controls in our effects panel. Adjust direction, colors, intensity, and more... no need to mess with complicated settings or pre-compositions.
Scripts & Tools
Simply install the free Spotlight FX plugin. All included scripts will be available automatically, no extra setup required.
Open Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro, head to Window > Extensions > Spotlight FX and click "Toolbox" (bottom right panel). All free scripts, including this one, will be listed there.
Yes, all scripts in Spotlight FX can be docked in your editing workspace using our Toolbox panel. You can keep them open while editing, pin your most-used ones, and access everything in one place.
